I have had to relocate the veggie garden and carefully lifted the =
asparagus corms- after cutting off the ferns which I usually leave over =
winter to strengthen the plant. These were transplanted into the new =
veggie garden, with much richer manured soil, and are now throwing new =
asparagus (out of season).

Should I allow these to go to ferns over winter, or pick them?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I would leave them to help provide enegy for the root system to
re-establish.

Personally, I'd leave them, but mulch and feed when they go dormant (or when
the leaves yellow, if you are in Sydney!). And I ould not pick any asparagus
next spring, but leave the plant to pick up from the transplantation.
