This is an informal arrangement of a group of people who come here to talk
about gardening, not to answer questions on demand from you or anyone else.
I suggest you ring your local garden centre or try a Google search.

You can definitely place them there, but I can't vouch for the growing part.
At least that's one of your questions answered.

Hi Les. Welcome to the 'cold shoulder' club :-))
Thee and me have crossed swords with the owners of uk.rec.gardening, never
to be accepted again :-))
However, there really are 'some' nice people out there :-)) Did you see the
response to my ID posting? Brilliant, full answers to 100% satifaction and
not an 'owner' in sight :-)))

I have a number of Cupressus macrocarpa (Lemon scented - full size)
growing in various degrees of shade and sun. Unfortunately, none of
those growing in shade have fared well. The best results have been
those set in full sun but shelter from wind. I cannot say if the dwarf
varieties of conifer will give similar results in all circumstances but
in my experience it is always worth giving anything a try.
