By the end of this summer they should all have become small frogs, about
1cm long. (You should see them beginning to sprout legs very soon). They
will continue growing, and become breeding size (about 3 inches) in 4-5
years.

Allegedly. Toads are better.
They certainly don't do any harm in the garden.

Frogs are very good for the garden, treat them with care they are your
friends.
As to how long before becoming frogs, this is down to climate and nature,
usually the first sign is a small tail appears, followed by rear legs then
front legs and the tail disappears, they will feed on algae or fish pellets,
its fun to watch a load of tadpoles chasing a fish pellet around a pond.
