Sadly I fear this will be so. Most species populations have peaks and
troughs and sometimes just need to ride it out.
CONservation hooliganism as conducted by the likes of the RSPB is in
grave danger of ensuring we become complacent about conservation,
almost daily they cry wolf in order to secure more funding for this
and that, not just donations, but our taxes too. In fact they divert
very little from their pockets into needy causes. Sparrow decline is
one area where they have invested next to nothing, yet millions is
spent destroying rare rats, brown rats, ruddy duck, hedgehogs etc to
justify their existence, but in reality does nothing for genuine
conservation.
