Posted on 2005-07-18 19:12:07 by bain21

I wintered my bonsai as usual, when i repotted this spring I didnt see any problems. Then they started to turn brown and die. I have lost 6 of my 10 junipers, Not root rot. Any ideas???

John:

I would wager that the trees died from a root zone problem other than root rot--one most likely induced through extremely cold winter conditions. If the roots incurred frequent freeze-thaw cycles, that would explain their death.

I know how painful it is to lose cherished bonsai. I am sorry for your loss, but I recommend that you begin again.

Cordially,

Describe "as usual" please. How many years has "as usual"
been for the trees? Where do you live? All were junipers?
