What's an "indoor" bonsai? Species name? And why are you calling it an
indoor bonsai?
But generally, if you're keeping a plant outside, bringing it into the air
conditioning is not a good idea. It's really freakin hot here, but I don't
bring any in. However, the more delicate ones are in nice shady spots-some
of them are behind big bushy houseplants for shade, some are under the bench
I keep the cuttings on, some are under the picnic table, some are in the
shade of the travel trailer, and right now I put a few behind a piece of
plywood leaned up against the east side of the house (stays nice and cool
under there). Right now I have more trouble with my non-bonsai plants
wilting than the bonsais (I have Juniper "nana", Portulacaria afra's, a
ponytail palm (not bonsai really), wax myrtle, three ficus species as my
bonsai's). If you don't have shade outside, make some! But don't bring them
in. It's harder to get a plant used to higher temps than lower temps, and
it's not going to cool down anytime soon. Keep them well watered (stand in a
tray of pebbles filled with water if you need too) and out of the direct sun
and they'll be fine. Actually, my portulacaria's do just fine in the sun,
and a small pine seedling that gets afternoon sun does ok too :). Seems a
bit harsh, I mean, I can't stay outside more than 30 minutes before I have
to retreat and cool down but the plants don't seem to care! Only exceptions
are my heather and coleus plants, but those are soft stemmed plants-every
night I have to drench them because they are wilted..but they recover by
morning and the heather even blooms!
